Various Ramapo collections provide excellent learning experiences and foster community interest. Several collections are on view in the Selden Rodman Gallery of Popular Arts in B Wing on a rotating basis. Collection pieces are also intermittently featured in Berrie Center and Potter Library exhibitions.<\/p>\n

The largest concentration of Haitian art collections in any academic institution in the United States is housed at Ramapo. Initially donated in the early 1980s, the world-renowned Selden Rodman Collection has grown significantly with subsequent gifts from the Rodman family and an international roster of donors. While primarily Haitian, artists from many other geographies are also represented, ranging from Brazilian painters to North American self-taught masters.<\/p>\n

Selden Rodman Gallery<\/a><\/p>\n

The Morris\/Svehla Collection, donated in 2009 by Matthew Morris and Frank Svehla, is associated with the Rodman Gallery and consists of important Haitian and Afro-Caribbean paintings, drawings, and sculptures.<\/p>\n

The Fromer Collection is the smallest of the Haitian collections, and was given to the College by Dr. Steven Fromer.<\/p>\n

The Thompson \u201cMIND\u201d Collection was donated by the folk art collectors Patricia and Maurice Thompson through their connection with Selden Rodman. This beautiful grouping features Mexican paintings and amates from the Oapan group, and centers around paintings by Marcial Ayala.<\/p>\n

The Gregory Z. Bukstein and Andre Z. Pascal Collection is characterized by an Asian decorative arts emphasis, but also includes Japanese prints and eclectic pieces from Russia and Europe.<\/p>\n

The rest of the general college collection includes a wide spectrum of art, from master prints and alumni donations to major contemporary artists like Nancy Spero.<\/p>\n

Additionally, numerous sculptures are sited on the campus grounds. Notably, there are large site works by Alice Aycock and R.M. Fischer, which were actualized through the New Jersey Public Buildings Arts Inclusion Act.<\/p>\n
